Lisbon Humberto Delgado Airport (LIS) can become very busy, especially during summer and early morning departures. These practical tips will help you save time, avoid common mistakes and enjoy a smoother airport experience whether you are arriving, departing or connecting through Lisbon.
Arrive Early
Morning flights can be extremely busy at Lisbon Airport. Arrive at least 2 hours before European flights and 3 hours before international departures.
Check Your Terminal
Terminal 2 is separate from Terminal 1 and mainly used by low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and easyJet. Always confirm your terminal before arriving.
Use the Metro
The Metro Red Line is usually the fastest and cheapest way to reach central Lisbon, especially during rush hour traffic.
Fast Track Can Help
Security queues may become long during peak hours. Fast Track is recommended for business travelers or morning departures.
Online Check-In
Save time by checking in online before arriving at the airport, especially if traveling with cabin baggage only.
Expect Walking Distances
Some gates in Terminal 1 are located far from the security area. Comfortable shoes are highly recommended.
Use Ride-Sharing Apps
Uber and Bolt are widely available at Lisbon Airport and are often cheaper than traditional taxis.
Best Food Options
The largest selection of restaurants and cafés is located after security in Terminal 1.
